Baluns

A balun is an electrical device which takes a signal from an unbalanced source (such as coaxial cable) and transmits it on a balanced source, such as CAT5 UTP cable and vice versa.
In CCTV baluns can used to transmit multiple signals over a single cable, to transmit video + power over a single cable, to get extended range or utilise cheaper, lighter cable than coaxial.

A.S.S. even now stocks IP baluns, able to carry an ethernet connection over existing coaxial cables - drastically simplifying the installation of IP cameras.
